Hill Vascular & Vein Center is proud to announce Denise Levy as Vascular Lab Technical Director
Hill Vascular & Vein Center is excited to announce Ms. Denise Levy, RVT, RDMS, has joined our team as Vascular Lab Technical Director. Denise has extensive knowledge and background in vascular diagnostic imaging and vascular lab leadership.
Denise began her healthcare career upon completion of the Radiologic Technology Program (ARRT) at Beth Israel Hospital and Northeastern University in Boston. She became interested in vascular diagnostic ultrasound, which was in its infancy at Beth Israel, so she went on to complete a one-year program at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center, ARDMS registered in Abdominal, OB/Gyn, Cardiac Adult/Pediatric and Neurology. Upon graduating, Denise published and presented her first scientific paper at the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine AIUM/ASUTS National Conference. Her passion for diagnostic ultrasound led her to work with ultrasound pioneer Kenneth JW Taylor at Yale New Haven Hospital where she trained visiting interns, co-authored an ultrasound book, and presented her research findings at AIUM and RSNA national conventions.
I simply wish to be part of a well-developed treatment plan that includes the best ultrasound examination possible. I look forward to my position as Vascular Lab Technical Director at Hill Vascular & Vein Center for it is an honor and a privilege to work along with Dr. Hill and his team.
– Denise Levy
Denise moved to California with a job as a senior applications specialist with Diasonics Inc, a diagnostic ultrasound manufacturer. For 5 years, she covered the US, Canada, and for Siemens, Germany. During this time she met her husband, Stan, an electrical engineer over the development of a cardiac ultrasound probe. They married and, at this time, Denise desired to return to the clinical setting of ultrasound. She became the first ultrasound technologist for the San Jose VRI Radiology Medical Group.
After receiving her speciality Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) license, Denise began working with renowned vascular surgeon, Dr. Thomas Fogarty, gathering data for publications, and presentations in scientific papers regarding renal artery stenosis and peripheral artery disease. Marveen Craig, ARDMS, D. Levy, Registry Review, Duplex Doppler Chapter, 1985.
At what is today HCA, Denise went to work at Good Samaritan Hospital and was quickly promoted to Vascular Lab Supervisor, achieving national accreditation of the vascular lab with 5 modalities including transcranial doppler (TCD) before going part time after the birth of her second child. When she returned to full time status, the vascular surgeons encouraged her to transfer to Regional Medical Center to accredit the vascular lab there, which she did.
After a 20 year career with HCA, Denise sought to work in private practice offices. She’s helped many community-based vascular surgeons by building, accrediting, and strengthening the quality of vascular labs throughout the South Bay/Silicon Valley. Denise was the responsible Vascular Lab Technical Director of the only free-standing, nationally accredited IAC Lab in the Bay Area with four vascular modalities.
Denise comes to work with Dr. Hill and his team after a rewarding experience at Philips as Clinical Specialist with Image Guided Therapeutic Devices, IGT-D , IVUS Volcano Intravascular Ultrasound of Northern California. There, she supported vascular surgeons and cardiologists with a new vascular diagnostic modality offered by Philips. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at Philips supporting surgeons from UCSF, Stanford, Good Samaritan, O’Connor, Sequoia hospitals and private vascular offices as they performed endovascular procedures utilizing Philips products.
Denise worked alongside Dr. Hill during endovascular procedures as a Philips clinical representative at Good Samaritan and O’Connor Hospitals, recognizing his compassion to improve his patients’ quality of life, his exceptional surgical skills, and good work ethic.
It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Denise Levy to our Hill Vascular & Vein Center Team as our Vascular Lab Technical Director.
